FAQ

Studio rental NYC FAQ

Can I rent studio space in NYC without booking crew?

Yes. You can rent Studio 2110 or Studio 1720 as a simple studio rental, or add crew, equipment, furniture, A/V, styling, DIT, or digikit support when the booking needs it.

Which Match Studios space should I choose?

Studio 2110 is a boutique 750 sq ft Midtown studio for compact productions, portraits, headshots, podcasts, small meetings, and intimate creative bookings. Studio 1720 is a larger 1,850 sq ft production space with two distinct sets for bigger crews, multi-look shoots, commercial video, workshops, and larger creative sessions.

What are the starting rates for studio rental in NYC?

Studio 2110 starts at $82/hr. Studio 1720 starts at $99/hr. Final pricing depends on the selected studio, booking type, duration, guest count, and add-ons. Production, meeting/workshop, social event, and custom bookings may use different pricing rules in the booking flow.

Can I use the studio for photo, video, podcast, headshot, workshop, or event bookings?

Yes. Match Studios can be used for photo shoots, video productions, podcast recordings, headshot sessions, commercial content, workshops, meetings, brand previews, and private creative events. For more specific planning, use the dedicated photo studio, video studio, podcast studio, event space, workshop space, and commercial photography studio pages.

Does my booked time include setup and breakdown?

Yes. Your booked time includes load-in, setup, shoot or event time, resets, cleanup, breakdown, and load-out. Please book enough time for the full studio use, not only the time in front of camera or the main event window.

Can I add lighting, furniture, A/V, makeup, hair, wardrobe, DIT, or digikit support?

Yes. Add-ons can be selected around the studio rental when they fit the booking type, schedule, and selected space. Available support may include lighting, backdrops, A/V, furniture, makeup, hair, wardrobe, lighting assistant or gaffer, DIT service, and digikit rental.

What happens if we run overtime?

Overtime is not guaranteed and depends on studio availability, building access, staff availability, and approval from Match Studios. If approved or incurred, overtime may be billed in 30-minute increments based on the booking type, selected studio, selected package, and applicable hourly rate. Add-ons, equipment, furniture, A/V, or crew continuing into overtime may create additional charges.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

Bookings may be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours after booking confirmation, provided the booking start time is more than 48 hours away. After that grace period, bookings cancelled 7 or more days before the start time are eligible for a full refund minus non-refundable payment processing fees and any committed custom or vendor costs. Cancellations made between 72 hours and 7 days before the booking start time are eligible for a 50% refund, excluding processing fees and non-refundable custom or vendor costs. Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the booking start time are non-refundable. Rescheduling is subject to availability and written approval.

Can I bring outside equipment, props, food, or drinks?

Most props and outside equipment are allowed with advance notice. Light food and non-messy drinks are usually allowed. Anything that may mark floors or walls, require installation, create smoke or haze, use flame, shed glitter or confetti, involve liquids, require catering, or create significant cleanup must be approved in advance.

Are the studios soundproof?

The studios can support many interviews, podcasts, and controlled video setups, but they are not marketed as fully soundproof soundstages. Midtown building and street conditions can vary. If clean production audio is critical, tell us before booking so we can discuss timing, setup, and whether the space is the right fit.

How far in advance should I book studio space?

The booking calendar shows real-time availability. Weekday production slots often have same-week openings, while weekend dates, evening event blocks, and multi-hour bookings in Studio 1720 are usually reserved one to two weeks ahead. Bookings that need catering approval, large load-ins, or custom quotes benefit from extra lead time.
