FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What kind of photo shoots work well at Match Studios?

Match Studios works well for portraits, headshots, fashion tests, beauty shoots, lookbooks, product content, ecommerce-adjacent photography, branded campaigns, creator content, and compact commercial photography that needs a clean Midtown studio environment.

Can I rent a photo studio in NYC and bring my own photographer?

Yes. You can rent the photo studio space and bring your own photographer, camera, crew, talent, props, wardrobe, and production equipment. Optional add-ons are available if you need lighting support, backdrops, makeup, hair, wardrobe, DIT, digikit, A/V, or furniture.

Is this a photography studio rental or a full production service?

The page is focused on photography studio rental in NYC. You can book the room on its own, or add selected production support around the studio block. Full photography services, retouching, custom production, or crew-heavy shoots should be confirmed by request.

Which studio is better for photo shoots?

Studio 2110 works best for a compact one-set shoot, portraits, headshots, creator content, beauty tests, and smaller product setups. Studio 1720 is better for larger crews, multiple looks, styling, client review, lookbooks, commercial photography, and shoots that need more room.

Can I book the space for headshots or portraits?

Yes. Match Studios can be used as a photo studio in NYC for individual portraits, LinkedIn headshots, actor updates, founder portraits, team headshot days, and personal branding sessions. If you need a photographer, makeup, or retouching workflow, request those details before booking.

Can I use the studio for fashion, beauty, or lookbook photography?

Yes. The studio can support fashion tests, beauty shoots, lookbooks, model digitals, wardrobe pulls, makeup-focused content, hair content, and small editorial-style productions. Share your crew size, number of looks, styling needs, and equipment plan so the right studio option can be confirmed.

Can I bring my own lights, props, backdrops, or outside equipment?

Yes, most photography props and outside equipment are allowed with advance notice. Any setup that may affect floors, walls, windows, electrical load, smoke detectors, sprinklers, building rules, or cleanup must be approved first. Clients are responsible for damage, missing items, and restoration costs.

Can I add makeup, hair, wardrobe, lighting, DIT, or digikit support?

Yes. Makeup, hair, wardrobe, lighting assistant / gaffer support, DIT service, and digikit rental can be added for photo bookings that need stronger on-set polish, client review, tethered capture, file handling, backup, or production workflow support.

Does photo studio booking time include setup and breakdown?

Yes. Your booked time includes load-in, lighting setup, camera setup, HMU setup if booked, shooting time, file handoff if applicable, resets, breakdown, cleanup, and load-out. Please choose enough time for the full production flow, not only the time in front of camera.

What is the cancellation, rescheduling, and overtime policy?

Photo production bookings follow the standard Match Studios policy. Bookings may be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours after booking confirmation if the start time is more than 48 hours away. After that, bookings cancelled 7 or more days before the start time are eligible for a full refund minus non-refundable processing fees and committed custom or vendor costs. Cancellations made between 72 hours and 7 days before the start time are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the start time are non-refundable. Overtime is not guaranteed and may be billed in 30-minute increments if approved or incurred.

How much does it cost to rent a photo studio in NYC?

Midtown photo studios commonly rent for $80–150 per hour, and larger production spaces run higher. Match Studios starts at $82/hr for the 750 sq ft Studio 2110 (from 2-hour blocks; a single hour is $110) and $99/hr for the 1,850 sq ft Studio 1720 with a 3-hour minimum.

How quickly can I get a photo studio slot?

Same-week weekday availability is common on the real-time calendar, and short two-hour portrait blocks are the easiest to place. Weekends and full production days in Studio 1720 book further ahead — plan one to two weeks out for those, more if the shoot needs styling crew or DIT support confirmed.
